Microsoft Flight Simulator Update Gives Canada a New Look and Greater Detail – CNET

Microsoft Flight Simulator added World Update XI on Thursday, embellishing the virtual airspace above Canada for more rewarding exploration, the publisher said. Players of the ultrarealistic flight sim can now aviate over more accurately mapped and detailed metropolises like Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto or explore remote locations on bush trips through the Canadian Rockies, Vancouver Island and Newfoundland.

“The update highlights 12 urban regions enhanced with the latest photogrammetry data and features 87 hand-crafted points of interest” on maps updated with newer “geospatial data, including digital elevation models, satellite imagery, and aerial photography,” Microsoft said.

The updates trailer, embedded above, shows the extreme north of Nunavut, snowy flight conditions in British Columbia and significant cultural, natural and historical sites through the country. The game now has five new airports and nine new missions: three landing challenges, three discovery flights and three bush trips.

The update is free to anyone who already owns Flight Simulator, which is included with Game Pass.
